The Scholastic Book Fair will be held the week of February 11th. There are so many shopping opportunities for students, parents, and grandparents!  We would love to have everyone join us on Tuesday, February 12th for Family Night. A reptile specialist will be on hand with some interesting creatures! We are also welcoming all Grandparents on Friday, February 15th. Grandparents are invited to eat with their student during their regular lunch time and shop the book fair after lunch.  We need LOTS of parent volunteers during this busy week, so please consider signing up for one of the time slots - http://signup.com/login/entry/4043466140118.

Be My Valentine!

Class Valentine parties will be held at 1:00 on February 14th. Parents are welcome to attend, and we ask that parents contact their homeroom teacher for ways to assist in helping with the party. Students may also bring Valentines to exchange with their entire class.

Read Across

America Day

Friday, March 1st we will celebrate a fun day of reading with Read Across America Day. Students are encouraged to come to school dressed as a character from their favorite book. Homeroom parents are also asked to schedule a guest reader for each homeroom class at any time during the day.

Important note from Madison County Schools

Madison County Schools will be open for a regular school day on February 18, 2019, for faculty, staff, students, and other district personnel. This day will be added as an instructional day to make up for the day of class missed due to anticipated inclement weather on January 29. At their meeting on Monday night, the Madison County Board of Education approved the Superintendent's request to make up the missed day on February 18, which was scheduled to be a school holiday. According to state law, the missed instructional day of school must be made up because there was no State of Emergency declared.

A note from our PTO President

I would like to take the opportunity to thank each student and parent / guardian for working so tirelessly last semester during our raffle fundraiser. We were able to exceed our goal, and we are so humbled and proud of all of you! You may have noticed that we have installed some shade on the playground to provide some relief to our students and teachers during our hot months. Benches and a new handicap swing were also purchased. We also purchased some beautiful new door mats for the front school entrance to keep our students safe during rainy days. These purchases were made possible by your fundraising efforts! We will also be staying true to our word, and we will not hold a big spring fundraiser similar to previous years. However, we do still ask for your support during our upcoming Spirit Nights at local restaurants, Jag Stores, maximizing your Kroger community rewards, collecting Box Tops, and all the other small ways we raise money for the school. These smaller fundraisers go to maintain our annual PTO budget which supports special grade events, library, art, technology, student awards/incentives, teacher appreciation, field day and so many other things. On behalf of the PTO Board, we thank you for your support in making this one of the BEST schools in the state! Shelby Trusty
